Home Tree Services was recently engaged to complete the removal of a large Tallowwood tree from the backyard of a residential property in Clovelly, Sydney.
The Tallowwood was a healthy and established tree, but the homeowners were preparing for a complete backyard renovation and landscaping project. After planning the new garden design, the decision was made to remove the tree and grind the stump so the landscaping team could start with a completely clear and accessible site.
Our role was to safely remove the large tree, process and remove all timber and green waste, grind the stump and leave the backyard ready for the landscapers to begin their work.
Removing a large tree from the backyard of an established Eastern Suburbs property requires careful planning.
Access between the backyard and the street was limited, so the tree could not simply be felled in one piece. The removal had to be completed progressively, with the tree dismantled in controlled sections.
Our climbing team installed professional rigging systems to manage larger branches and timber sections safely. Each section was carefully cut, controlled and lowered to the ground to protect the house, garden and surrounding property.
The size and structure of the Tallowwood meant that the main tree removal was completed in two major stages. Careful planning, communication between the climber and ground crew, and appropriate rigging techniques allowed the work to be completed safely and efficiently.
Once sections of the tree reached the ground, our ground crew processed the branches and timber and transported the material from the rear of the property to the front.
Branches and suitable green waste were processed through the wood chipper, while the work area was progressively cleared throughout the tree removal.
For large backyard tree removals in suburbs such as Clovelly, Coogee, Randwick and Maroubra, an organised ground crew is an important part of the job. Efficient material handling helps keep the work area safe and allows the tree climber and ground crew to work together effectively.
Tree removal was only the first part of this project.
Because the property was being prepared for a complete backyard renovation, the remaining Tallowwood stump also needed to be removed. Our team completed stump grinding to clear the area and prepare the ground for the next stage of the landscaping project.
Once the tree removal and stump grinding were complete, all remaining tree waste was removed and the work area was thoroughly cleaned.
The result was a clear backyard ready for the landscapers to begin the new garden construction and outdoor renovation.
When planning a major landscaping project, swimming pool installation, garden redesign or complete backyard renovation, existing trees can have a significant impact on the design and construction process.
A professional arborist can assess the trees on the property and help determine the most practical approach before landscaping or construction begins.
Planning tree removal and stump grinding before the landscaping work starts can make access easier, reduce delays and provide the landscaping team with a properly prepared site.
